The lucky streak is over.

We visited my parents for Christmas this year. Dale came down with the flu on Christmas Eve, and proceeded to pass it to Jordan, along with a few other family members. Jordan came down with it on Friday, and since we couldn't find any pediatricians to see her on short notice, and our pediatrician insisted that we take her in to verify what she has, we took her to the emergency room. It wasn't too bad, it took us about 2.5 hours from start to finish. Poor girl had just fallen alseep on Dale's lap when a nurse came in to suction her nose for another test. That pissed her off!

So, we're home, and she is doing much better now. Several people had mentioned how great it was that she hadn't gotten sick yet. Well, so much for that!

Coons and Wet Shoes!

A few nights ago, Dale and I were watching TV and heard a good "thump" behind us. I looked just in time to see the attic door hanging down about an inch, and then pop back into place. Dale saw it too. So, we both thinking "What the **** is up there?" 2:00 the next morning we awake to the sound of a fairly sizable critter(s) above our bedroom. So we spend the next hour praying it doesn't wake up Jordan or figure out how to get into the house, and digging through the phone book to figure out who to call.

So the guy takes one whiff in the attic and says "Racoons!" Apparently it is mating season, and his theory is that what we heard was 2 of them mating, and basically having a party. Great. He sets a trap. No catch. Human scent must have scared them off.

Fast forward 4 days. Guy comes to pick up the trap. He and I are chatting with Jordan on my hip. Leaky diaper. Wet shoes, and no racoons. Thank goodness the guy is a grandpa, and he understands.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Baby Puke!

Ha Ha! I just have to share! Yesterday Dale was watching Jordan while I ran some errands. Jordan was in her jumper, and got the suspension cord twisted around so much that when she picked up her feet, she spun around about 15 times. When she stopped spinning, she began to cry, so Dale picked her up. Why was she crying? Because she got queasy from spinning. The result: baby puke, enough to cover both of their outfits. When I came home, Jordan was trucking around in her walker just as happy as she could be in nothing but a diaper, and Dale was over the sink scrubbing his clothes, about to puke himself. He doesn't do well with puke or dirty diapers, unfortunately. I think it is hilarious, though Dale doesn't. Oh well. Jordan hasn't learned from it because I swear she still spins more than she jumps in that jumper. And, she gets dizzy every time!

Teething.

Jordan is working on her 4th tooth. Up late at night, all day long, poor thing! It must hurt so much. Yesterday I stocked up on Tylenol, Motrin, and these little tablets that supposedly perform miracles. Hopefully, this will be over soon!

Baby Food Everywhere!

Jordan has taken to solids for about a week now. Her favorite is sweet potatoes, and she has gotten really good at eating, and responding when I ask her to open her mouth. I thought I would try my hand at making my own baby food. It went pretty well, I guess. My sweet potatoes were really dry, so I had to add a lot of water to get it thin enough. I have no idea if that is okay, but when I finished, I thought they tasted just like the ones in the jar! We'll see what she thinks. I didn't even bother with the squash. I baked it, and then when I went to peel it, and remove the seeds like the recipe said, there was going to be nothing left! Just like eating squirrel (so I hear) - it's a lot of work for very little food. Hardly worth it.

Stupid Camera

My digital camera is broken. Are they supposed to last more than 2 years? I know with a washing machine after about 10 years, you need to get prepared, but 2 years???!!!!! It was a Sony, too. Not sure what I am going to do, can't afford a new one right now. I may have some film, but will I remember how to use it????? Digital pics may be slim for awhile.
